The Busy Diego

Diego, a 130-year old giant tortoise, is finally retiring after single-handedly saving his species from extinction. In 1977, when Diego was first brought to the Charles Darwin Research Station in the Galapagos, there were only 2 males and 12 females Española tortoises left. But by fathering over 1,700 offspring, Diego brought the species back from the critically endangered list. For a job well-done and happy retirement back in his native home, Diego is this week’s Rewarranty story of the week.
